Art life in Saxony is flourishing! Numerous exciting exhibitions invite art and history lovers to discover the cultural diversity of the region. From June 13, 2025, visitors in Chemnitz, Dresden and other cities can experience the latest exhibitions covering both historical and contemporary topics.
The exhibition “The New City – Chemnitz as Karl Marx City” is currently running in Chemnitz and will remain open until February 1, 2026. MDR reports that the Schloßbergmuseum is reinterpreting the history of the city with this presentation. Another highlight is the exhibition “Made in Saxony”, which has been presented at Gießerstraße 5 since April 2nd, 2025 and can be seen until September 4th, 2025. Here visitors can experience the diversity of Saxon art.
Special venues
The Gunzenhauser Museum also opens its doors for the exhibition "European Realities. Realism movements of the 1920s and 1930s in Europe", which can be visited until August 10, 2025. Entry here is 10 euros, reduced 6.50 euros, while children up to 18 years of age have free access. chemnitz2025.de reports. The Chemnitz Industrial Museum has also taken up an exciting topic with “Tales of Transformation”, which can be seen until November 16, 2025.
Dresden has a new attraction with “The Sweet Art – A Cultural History of Confectionery and Desserts”. This exhibition will be shown in the SLUB Dresden Book Museum from today until January 17, 2026 and is already enjoying great popularity. According to MDR Admission is free! It is also worth visiting the Städtische Galerie for the exhibition “SOWIESO” by Christine Schlegel, which runs until September 21, 2025.
Insights into other cultural events
Görlitz and Leipzig complement the art offerings with interesting exhibitions. You can view “The End is Near, Here” by Michael Dressel in the Görlitz Museum of Photography until June 15, 2025. In Leipzig, however, the exhibition “The House with the Spider – Part 1: Taxidermy” is attracting everyone’s attention – the doors are open here until October 26, 2025 and entry is free.
