High temperatures are causing construction sites to falter: Current construction projects in Cologne are affected by the extreme weather conditions. Construction work was originally scheduled to be completed between June 30th and July 7th, but high temperatures in the 27th calendar week disrupted the plans.
A decisive factor for the delay is the professional installation of the asphalt surface layer. The asphalt work requires ideal conditions and the slow cooling of the material could jeopardize its strength, causing additional stress for residents and road users if the road is completely closed. For this reason, the installation of the top layer has now been postponed to the 28th calendar week, with the first section being completed by July 11th.
