Young motorcycle heroine Smilla Göttlich conquers the podium at the Sachsenring!

Last weekend the eagerly awaited event took place at the SachsenringNorthern Talent Cup. The only 14-year-old took care of thisSmilla Divinefrom Eibau caused a stir when she took third place in the first race. Smilla, who entered the race as a wildcard driver, had previously... ADAC Junior Cup can convince on a 250cc KTM. On the Honda, which she had only ridden in training for the race, she mastered the challenge perfectly.

And how did she do that? Although she only finished 11th in qualifying and was not entirely satisfied with her performance, she improved significantly in the race. The rain that accompanied the race posed an additional challenge, especially as Smilla had never ridden the Honda in wet conditions before. After a weak start in which she fell back to 19th place, she mounted an impressive comeback. After the first lap she was already in 13th place and quickly fought her way forward.

Podium finish under difficult conditions

The leader's setback ensured that Smilla was able to climb further up. She reached 7th place and then really accelerated. In the last classified lap she was faster than all other drivers and was faster by over three seconds. Unfortunately the race was canceled due to heavy rain, but their performance spoke for itself. She finished the second race on Sunday in a solid ninth place, just five seconds behind the winner, showing further promise.

In addition to Smilla, the rest of the field also showed strong performances.Fynn KratochwilandRobin Siegertfrom the Northern Talent Cup took first and second place in their races. Kratochwil won the first race after the cancellation and led the qualifying, while Siegert fought his way from seventh position to first place. The two ensured that the German national anthem was played Liqui Moly Motorcycle Grand Prix.

On to new challenges

Smilla would like to thank her team boss Carsten Freudenberg for her constant support. But the adventure doesn't end here. The next appearance for the young pilot is already around the corner. From July 18th to 20th she will be competing in Brno, Czech Republic, as part of the Moto GP supporting program. It remains to be seen whether she can confirm her strong performance from the Sachsenring there too!
