The role of the sea rescuers

In view of the two incidents, the important role of the sea rescuers becomes clear once again. The German Society for Rescue Shipwrecker (DGZRS) has been active in around 3,000 missions in recent years and has helped numerous people in emergency situations. In 2024, for example, 1,775 missions were driven in which 79 people were saved from distress and 403 could be freed out of danger. With more than 87,300 people saved since it was founded 160 years ago, the DGZRS once again demonstrated that it is an indispensable institution for security on the water. The DGZRS also gives the voluntary commitment, as from the shanty rock band Santiano, which collected over 50,000 euros. The DGZRS website.

These events not only stimulate the discussion about security on the water, they also remind us of how important training and preparation for any emergencies are. Whether sailing or on other watercraft: a good hand and knowledge of the conditions are essential. So stay attentive and sure whether at Lake Berzdorfer or elsewhere!
