Massive raid against right -wing extremist empire in Saxony!

this day, June 18, 2025, the Saxon police carried out a large -scale raid in several cities. Numerous apartments in Dresden, Leipzig, Görlitz as well as in the Erzgebirge district and Vogtlandkreis are affected. These measures were aimed at the alleged right -wing extremist overthrow, which is known as the "Empire Group" and also operates as the "United Patriots". According to t-online.de planned to overthrow the Federal Government and to abolish the democracy.

As part of these searches, five men between the ages of 47 and 77 were determined as a suspect. A 47-year-old is considered an active member of the "United Patriots", while a 57-year-old is accused of supporting the overthrow plans. The remaining three men aged 48, 54 and 77 were informed about the activities, but did not report them. The searches were carried out with the participation of the Special Operations Command (SEK) and the Attorney General Dresden and the Saxony State Criminal Police Office.

The danger of the Reich Citizens' Movement

This raid is part of a larger trend in Germany, in which right -wing extremist movements such as the "imperial citizens" are increasingly being targeted by the authorities. According to Deutschlandfunk.de , the "Reichsbürger" deny the existence of the Federal Republic of Germany and its legal system. The movement that has existed since the 1980s has gained influence in recent years. It is estimated that the number of "imperial citizens" and "self -managers" in 2023 were around 25,000.

The supporters of this movement categorically reject state institutions, do not pay any taxes and do not accept state representatives. A fertile breeding ground for extremist views that can even lead to violent resistance in some cases. In particular, a tenth of this group is assessed as violent, which makes the security situation dangerous. In this regard, a police officer was killed in an operation in 2016.

A review of previous raids

The raid in Saxony does not come out of nowhere. Only a month ago, on May 13, 2025, around 800 civil servants were mobilized in seven federal states to carry out searches according to the ban on the "Reich Citizens" group "Kingdom of Germany". Here, too, far -reaching overthrow plans were found, and the security authorities agree that such groups represent a serious threat. The police repeatedly discover that some “imperial citizens” have access to the state's central institutions, even to the Bundeswehr.

Although the protection of the constitution in 2023 reports a decline in politically motivated crimes of “imperial citizens”, the potential danger that comes from these groups is unbroken. Security authorities are on the hat and take measures to ensure public security, because the "imperial citizens" are not a marginal phenomenon, but a serious security problem.

As the current developments in Saxony show, dealing with right -wing extremism in Germany is far from over. Political education and prevention work are more necessary than ever to preserve democracy and not give any space to right -wing extremist views.
