The Sparkasse in the Görlitz district is in the spotlight this week because it is celebrating a remarkable anniversary: ​​200 years of commitment to the region. The Sparkasse has put together a colorful program for this special event. Gala events, employee celebrations and senior receptions are just some of the highlights that are intended to delight customers and the general public. But the Sparkasse not only looks back on its own history, but also sets clear trends for the future. In August the Revolution Train will come to Löbau to provide information about drug education. Events are also planned for September, including a cybercrime awareness day at the Löbau trade fair. These exciting projects are part of the sustainable initiatives that the Sparkasse is pursuing beyond the anniversary year.

Sustainable investments

As part of its sustainable strategy, the Sparkasse is planning various renovations and investments in the region. A central project is the renovation of its headquarters on Berliner Straße in Görlitz, where around 20 million euros are being invested. Completion of the new headquarters is scheduled for mid-2026. A modern real estate center will be set up on the ground floor, while the upper floors will be rented out as office space.

The branch on the Altmarkt in Löbau will also have a cash cash register again after the previous cash registers were closed in autumn 2022. This reopening requires a six-figure investment and is intended to ensure that cash registers in Görlitz, Zittau, Weißwasser and Löbau remain in existence in the long term.

Promoting the common good

Another important aspect of the Sparkasse's activities is the promotion of social projects. A new outdoor playground with table tennis tables and a calisthenics facility is being built in Zittau and is scheduled to be completed in mid-August. In Sproitz, the Knax playground is being renovated with the support of the Sparkasse and the PS Lottery Company. A total of 27 clubs received a grant of 20,000 euros from the Sparkasse's sustainability fund to implement their own projects in the region.

The Sparkasse Finance Group stands out for its extensive commitment: in 2024, 534 million euros in funding were raised, with over 78 million euros flowing as foundation distributions. These foundations promote art, culture, sport and education in their respective regions and work independently on important projects for the common good, as can be read on *Sparkasse*.

Especially in light of the anniversary, the Sparkasse's activities show a clear vision: they not only want to meet current needs, but also set the course for a prosperous future.
