Gun owners in Görlitz are increasing dramatically: CDU Prime Minister in shooting sports!
The number of gun licenses in the Görlitz district has increased in recent months. This is evident from recent statistics that reflect the growing number of hunter-gatherers in the region. The statistics include all gun owners who live in the region and show that interest in shooting sports is well on track. Sächsische.de reports that against this background, AfD elected officials in the Bautzen district are also being checked, while the Görlitz district office is not providing any further information on this.
A special highlight was the visit of Michael Kretschmer, the Saxon Prime Minister, to the Görlitz Rifle Guild 1377 e. v.. Here he took part in the shooting range and impressed with his accurate performances. This traditional guild will celebrate its 650th anniversary in 2027, which will be an important occasion for the members and the city of Görlitz. André Worbs, the first chairman, emphasizes the diverse role of the club beyond shooting.
A wide range of offers from the Rifle Guild
The Görlitz Riflemen's Guild offers its members and interested citizens a wide range of courses. These include, among other things, courses on expertise in handling weapons and ammunition, which are state-recognized. Worbs emphasizes that the Rifle Guild is not only a training facility, but also contributes to safety by imparting expert knowledge. members can gain practical experience at the club's own shooting range, with the weapons and ammunition provided by the club.
The shooting range is open to all citizens, not just club members. The training times are Mondays from 3:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 2:00 p.m., whereby guest shooters between the ages of 12 and 18 can only train with a legal guardian and after prior registration by telephone.
Rising gun law numbers
A look at the nationwide statistics shows that the number of firearms permits has increased overall. In June 2025, 3,018,856 permits were valid in Germany, which represents an increase compared to the previous year. This particularly affects small firearms licenses, the number of which rose from 871,838 to 892,341 in the same period. Federal Office of Administration also points out that these figures were collected taking into account the changes in gun law since 2020.
Interestingly, foreign gun owners are also affected, as multiple residences in different federal states can lead to deviations. The trend towards more gun ownership seems to be not only a local but also a nationwide phenomenon. With this growth comes questions about safety and the responsible use of weapons, which are becoming increasingly important in society.
