Creative minds honored: Tourism Prize Saxony-Anhalt 2025 awarded!
Creative ideas are sprouting in Saxony-Anhalt: on the eve of Tourism Day, the winners of the Saxony-Anhalt Tourism Prize 2025 excellent. Three innovative projects have prevailed and show how diverse and future-oriented the approaches in tourism are. Under the patronage of Sven Schulze, Minister for Economic Affairs and Tourism, the importance of inventiveness and passion for the industry was emphasized.
A total of 44 applications from the tourism industry applied for the prize this year, with nine finalists nominated in three categories. According to jury chairwoman Stefanie Pötzsch, the diversity of the submitted entries highlighted their importance for regional development. Dr. Robert Franke, Managing Director of IMG Sachsen-Anhalt mbH, praised the achievements of the winners, who not only strengthen their own business, but also advance the entire travel destination of Saxony-Anhalt.
The award winners in detail
The treetop resort “Lug ins Land” in Ilsenburg was honored in the sustainability category. It impresses with five ecologically built tree houses, which offer visitors a unique experience in the Harz treetops. Activities like forest bathing, qigong and yoga make it a sustainable travel magnet.
The Garden Kingdom app from the Dessau-Wörlitz Cultural Foundation won the digitalization category. This interactive app allows users to explore Wörlitzer Park digitally. It also appeals to a younger audience with features such as historical information, maps and audio guides, as well as accessibility in English and plain language. The app will also be expanded to other parks, expanding the digital experience in tourism.
In the Innovation category, the musical “Walpurga” by the Theater Fairytale Thale, which combines regional mythology with a modern production, was convincing. It attracts numerous visitors from all over Germany and noticeably revitalizes the economic situation in the region.
A look at the finalists
It wasn't just the winners who were in the spotlight. A number of other projects also demonstrate imaginative approaches in Saxony-Anhalt. In addition to the Gartenreich app, the interactive exhibition “Uprising 1525” by the Luther Museums and the online offer “Genussfinder Sachsen-Anhalt” were nominated in the digitalization category. The Wernigerode Citizens and Miniatures Park and the “Steam-Coal-Light-Lakes” tourist adventure route scored highly among the finalists for sustainability. In the innovation category, the “Rotkäppchen Erlebniswelt” and the outdoor escape games from Younit were up for grabs.
Overall, the tourism day shows how strong the travel destination Saxony-Anhalt is. The competition is held every two years and is an important indicator of creative exchange and development in the tourism industry. The winning projects not only make progress in their respective categories, but also set standards for the future of tourism in the region.
