The Leipzig Zoo, known for its exotic animals and its popular meerkat facility, has a new little resident who conquers the hearts of the zoo visitors in the storm. Young meerkats often have to get a bit on their feet, but the young animal, which was born in April 2025, is called "Jim" and already shows a lot of personality. Special challenges in the meerkat community

Grasser explains that it is even possible that one day Jim could take on the role of the dominant male, which brings him fascinating but risky challenges.

In order to cool the meerkat at the summer heat, Grasser has set up a small pool with fish. Sofia and the other clans help Jim's mother worries by warming him and assisting him in the search for food, while Jim himself needs some support from his older conspecifics. Behind the scenes, Grasser observes how his little protégé becomes increasingly active and cheeky, but he shows little interest in the snacks made by grasses.
