On Friday, July 4, 2025, the congress hall at the Leipzig Zoo is transformed into a festive setting when the University of Leipzig invites you to this year's university ball. Under the motto "Leipzig: Excellent!"

The enchanting entertainment is shaped by various artistic performances. The Showband Cosmic Light ensures the musical accompaniment. DJ Judith van Waterkant also creates the mood.

The dancing interludes come from the talented dance couples Simon Parascandola and Sophie Bretschneider as well as Josefine Zimmermann and Justin Elert. The event is moderated by Kamilla Senjo, a prominent television presenter and alumna at the university. Admission begins at 6:00 p.m., while the program starts at 7:00 p.m. - a perfect opportunity to enjoy the evening in the best company.

excellence as a central topic

This year's topic also has a deeper background: It is related to the successful application of the university as part of the Excellence strategy of the federal and state governments. The University of Leipzig has made great efforts in recent years to consolidate its position as one of the leading educational institutions in Germany.

Last year the first university ball took place at the University of Leipzig since 1990, in which 420 guests took part. The rector, Prof. Dr. Eva Inés Obergfell opened the evening with a table speech and reminded those present of the long tradition of these balls. For the first dance she invited the guests, accompanied by the stirring music of the band Cosmic Light.
