Ceramics market at GRASSI: artistic treasures and creative workshops!
What's new in Leipzig? On June 14th and 15th, 2025, the GRASSI Museum will once again be transformed into a paradise for lovers of handmade ceramic art. The annual one Ceramic market is a fixed date in the calendars of many Leipzig residents and this year attracts more than 60 talented ceramists from Poland, Italy and Germany. From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. they will present their latest creations, which range from artistic sculptures to practical everyday objects.
Visitors can look forward to a wide range of offerings, including figurative ceramics, delicate porcelain cups and powerful wooden firing vessels. The variety of manufacturing and firing techniques, including Raku and salt firing, offers exciting insights into traditional and modern ceramic art. Terra Rossa, the organizing art association, has invited a selection of the best ceramists to show their work in the museum's courtyard.
Creative participation and awards
A highlight of the market is the opportunity to get creative yourself. Both children and adults can take part in the pottery wheel and create their own works. In addition to the colorful hustle and bustle, three prizes from the art association will also be awarded: 500 euros, 300 euros and 200 euros await the winners, whose works will be presented in the museum's pillar hall.
A truly special stand is run by designer Maria Schenke, who specializes in creations made from old advertising tarpaulins and flags. The boxes, bags and accessories they produce promise unique items for every taste.
