Leipzig celebrates: 30 years of Architecture Day with exciting insights!
On June 28, 2025 at 11 a.m., Building Mayor Thomas Dienberg will open the 30th Architecture Day in Leipzig. The opening ceremony will take place at the construction site of the Dösner Weg campus, Dösner Weg 39. The school campus is not only the first community school in Saxony, which runs from first to twelfth grade, but also an innovative project that offers up to 1,800 children and young people new learning spaces. After the opening, Dienberg will lead a tour of the almost completed six-field sports hall together with experts from the architectural firm wörner traxler richter (WTR).
This sports hall, which is assigned to the school, will also be open to the public. A highlight is the included outside staircase and the roof landscape, which includes a football field, a basketball court, a calisthenics facility and a running track. All of these features bring a breath of fresh air to Saxony's educational landscape.
Diversity in focus
Architecture Day will take place on June 28th and 29th, 2025 under the motto “Building diversity”. Loud Saxony Chamber of Architects Visitors can expect a wide range of program items with almost 90 objects, open offices and events for viewing throughout Saxony. Those interested in architecture gain insights into projects that are not normally accessible and can talk to architects, urban planners and builders.
This year's program includes new buildings, extensive renovations and innovative conversions. Other municipal projects in Leipzig that are opening their doors include the Heinrich Mann School and the Kita Kändlerstrasse. The focus on different perspectives and expressions of architecture is visible in many events and tours.
A weekend full of possibilities
The architecture event offers numerous attractions, including guided tours, exhibitions and discussion formats. The WIA exhibition “WE ARE MANY!” at the ZfBK – Center for Building Culture Saxony is part of the program and addresses the influence of female planners in Saxony. The exhibition “30 Years of Architecture Day” will take place from June 26th to September 4th in various locations, including the Haus der Architekten in Leipzig, and will show selected projects from previous years.
