Timo Werner before the end: RB Leipzig wants to be without him as quickly as possible!

There are rumblings at RB Leipzig: Timo Werner is in the public eye, and not for good reasons. The player has experienced a dramatic decline in form, which hasn't exactly improved after his unsuccessful loan spell at Tottenham Hotspur. Despite a contract with RB Leipzig that runs until the summer of 2026, things look bleak for his sporting future at the club. “RB could get rid of him quicker than he thinks,” says reporting from World.

The newly married Werner is back in London after his wedding in Mallorca and is expected to take part in performance tests at the RB training center in Leipzig on Friday. However, the club clearly communicated that Werner would no longer play for the Red Bulls. If he decides to wait out his contract, he won't even play in friendly matches. His only option is to go to the New York Red Bulls, who have made him a contract offer of two and a half years until the end of 2027.

Contract negotiations at a standstill

The situation is further complicated by salary problems. Werner's advisors insist on the original salary of ten million euros per year and do not want to make any major compromises. “The offer from New York, which has now been reduced to 7 million euros per year, still seems too high for the Red Bulls,” is the assessment Yahoo Sports.

The player currently earns around €11.1 million and despite being willing to give up part of his salary, he is reluctant to accept a final offer. His desire to work under German coach Sandro Schwarz at the New York Red Bulls could help find a solution, but negotiations are currently stalled.

The options for Timo Werner

The options seem limited, with a transfer this summer still looking likely as there has been little interest in Werner so far, both in Germany and abroad. The New York Red Bulls appear to be the main alternative and an amicable solution would be desirable. After all, Werner and RB Leipzig celebrated success together, and it would be a shame if this former favorite was simply forgotten.

It remains to be seen whether RB Leipzig will manage to reach an agreement. The next few weeks could be crucial, not only for Werner, but also for the future of the Red Bulls. Time is ticking, and the anticipation of the coming season is more than just a rhetorical ebb and flow when it comes to personalizing Werner.
