Audi Q8 stolen for 100,000 euros – the police are looking for witnesses!

A brazen theft occurred in the tranquil Moritzburg region, more precisely in the Friedewald district. On October 12, 2025 between 3:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m., previously unknown perpetrators stole a gray Audi Q8, the value of which is an impressive 100,000 euros. The crooks not only remained bold, but also damaged the electronics of a property gate, which resulted in additional property damage of around 3,000 euros. There was also a wallet with important documents and cards in the stolen vehicle. An incident that makes the citizens of Friedewald take notice and raises the question: How safe are our properties?

The local police immediately started an investigation to catch the fleeing perpetrators. It remains to be hoped that new information about this incident will be received quickly so that those injured can get justice.

Racially motivated insults

But that wasn't the only incident that shook the region on October 12th. In Gröditz, a 51-year-old man was noticed who racially insulted a couple aged 41 and 48 from the balcony of his home and intimidated them with threatening gestures. The police are now investigating the man for insults and threats. Such incidents are alarming and highlight the social tensions that can also be felt in more rural areas.

Theft of cannabis plants

Another brazen theft was also reported in Großenhain. Between October 11, 2025, 8:00 p.m. and October 12, 2025, 12:30 p.m., unknown persons stole two cannabis plants from a canopy on Albertstrasse. The perpetrators were so bold that they gained access to a roof and cut off the plants at the roots. The exact extent of the damage is not yet known, but such an approach shows the bizarre side of urban life.

General crime situation

The latest incidents are embedded in a difficult crime situation in Germany. According to the Federal Criminal Police Office's police crime statistics (PKS), the number of crimes fell by 1.7% in 2024, which is primarily due to fewer cannabis crimes, which were influenced by partial legalization since April 1, 2024. However, a feeling of concern remains among citizens as their sense of security is affected by other types of crime, particularly theft.

It is also interesting that the crime clearance rate in 2024 is 58%, but has fallen slightly. While the 3% decline in suspects to around 2.18 million is encouraging, the increase in non-German suspects to 41.8% is worrying. The discussion about security in our cities and villages remains topical and could trigger many exciting debates.

In this mixed situation, it is to be hoped that the investigative authorities will quickly come to a positive conclusion and that citizens will regain a feeling of security and trust. What happens next and whether the perpetrators from Friedewald can be caught remains to be seen.
