The smell of gasoline and rain: The spectacular BMW meeting in Großenhain!

A touch of asphalt and gasoline and the enthusiasm of tuning enthusiasts: The BMW meeting, better known as “Syndikat Asphaltfieber”, filled the air above the Großenhainer airfield this year. Planned for four days, the event attracted participants from all over Germany and neighboring countries. The start on Thursday was crowned with excellent weather, which transformed the makeshift campsite into a lively zone where fans of the brand gathered and presented their vehicles.

Martin Schneider, the chief organizer of the event, reported on the quick implementation of the event after the original location in Thuringia was canceled. But not everything went according to plan: the preparations were briefly put on hold as rescue operations in the Gohrischheide fire area complicated the situation. However, the joy of the tuning lovers was unbroken and many vehicles, often heavily modified, provided an impressive sound with their loud exhaust noises.

Attractions and challenges

The meet featured numerous competitions, including drift championships and sprint competitions, which added extra thrills. However, the mood was dampened on Friday by the onset of rain, which caused many participants to leave the meeting early. Unfortunately, even the planned fireworks display on Saturday had to be canceled due to the risk of forest fires - a double setback for the celebrations.

The organizers charged a waste deposit of 10 euros for waste disposal, which participants could get back if they returned a trash bag. This approach shows the organizers' awareness of environmental protection and their responsibility towards nature, even in the exciting atmosphere of a tuning event.

The tuning scene in Germany

The BMW meeting in Großenhain is not the only highlight for car enthusiasts this year. According to bmwscene-show.de, there are numerous other events spread throughout the year, such as the Bimmerfest in Venray, the E36 Meeting in Hengelo and the Tuning World Bodensee. The tuning scene is flourishing in Germany and is attracting more and more people who can share their passion and present their vehicles.

The variety of offerings in the tuning community shows that interest in individual adjustments to vehicles, be it in terms of body, engine or chassis, has been on the rise for decades. From the beginnings in the 1950s to modern meetings like “Syndikat Asphaltfieber”, the fascination for powerful and unique automobiles remains unbroken.

For everyone who has caught the tuning fever, there are many more appointments on the agenda in the coming months, so that every car freak's heart should beat faster. The meeting in Großenhain showed that, despite adverse circumstances, a passionate community comes together to celebrate their enthusiasm for BMW and tuning.

Whether in Cologne or elsewhere, the events in the tuning scene remain a hot topic - the next big tuning festival is certainly approaching!
