Preparations are in full swing! Anja and Holm Bräuer from Taubenheim, Klipphausen, are getting ready for a very special adventure. In mid-October 2025 they will leave Germany with their two children, Helena (8) and Nathan (14), to travel for an indefinite period of time. The Bräuers have big plans: they want to explore the world for at least five to ten years, possibly even up to 20 years. But this decision was not easy and did not come by chance. The decision to travel around the world was already made in December 2024, and now the implementation is just around the corner.
A look at their preparations shows how serious the family is about their project. The house has been sold, Anja's yoga studio has found a successor, and most of the animals have also found a new home - only the dog Ira remains at her side. The financial aspects are also regulated: health insurance and broadcasting fees are canceled and the car remains registered in Meißen. International health insurance ensures that the family is well covered even abroad.
Health insurance and protection abroad
International health insurance offers comprehensive benefits. It not only covers outpatient and inpatient treatment, but also provides for emergencies, rehabilitative measures and prescription medication. Even psychological support for difficulties such as anxiety is included, which is particularly important these days. Another interesting aspect is that the family will never stay in one country for more than half a year, which means they do not have to officially register. The path of digital nomadism
Holm Bräuer, who has extensive education and teaching experience, plans to offer his children education at a high level by covering the Abitur material up to the 12th grade. The concept of digital nomadism is increasingly becoming a reality for the Bräuers as they rely on location-independent sources of income. This way of life offers them the freedom to work from different locations and raise their children in a rapidly changing world of work. The first destination of the trip takes the family to Crete in Greece. There they not only want to enjoy the sun and the sea, but also get to know life outside of their usual everyday life. They are entrepreneurial and want to give their children a valuable learning experience without putting them under pressure - Nathan in particular is about to finish ninth grade.
The Bräuers are ready to explore the unknown and face the challenges. It will be exciting to see what their journey will be like and what experiences they will gain during their time as digital nomads.
