Moritzburg is planning a new multifunctional riding arena: the old one falls victim to demolition!
The old riding arena at the state stud farm in Moritzburg has served its purpose and has now been demolished. This hall, which has been used for public events since 1980, was most recently popular during the Horse Sales Week in April. But the demolition laid the foundation for a new era, as a state-of-the-art multifunctional riding arena is already being planned and will be inaugurated on August 5th. This reports Sächsische.de.
The new hall is being built under the construction management of the state-owned company Saxon Real Estate and Construction Management, which will meet international standards and offer space for around 800 visitors. The investments for this project amount to around 24 million euros. A symbolic groundbreaking ceremony was attended by the President of the State Parliament, Dr. Matthias Rößler as well as Finance Minister Hartmut Vorjohann and Agriculture Minister Wolfram Günther were present, which underlines the importance of the project medienservice.sachsen.de highlights.
Innovative details of the new riding arena
With a usable area of around 6,000 square meters, the new riding arena will be the largest of its kind in Central Germany. Particularly innovative features include an “ebb and flow system” for optimal riding surfaces and an energy-saving LED infrared heater. This technology is intended to reduce power consumption by 20 percent compared to conventional systems. The hall will also be equipped with special windows to avoid glare for the horses. Planned events include breeding events and equestrian events, making the hall an important location for agriculture and horse breeding. Details can be found on mdr.de.
Despite the anticipation of the new riding arena, there are also downsides. In the Albrechtsburg in Meißen, tourists complained about defective listening stations. These are during the Pentecost weekend according to reports from Sächsische.de was only partially functional, which prompted the castle director to think about improvements.
Current challenges in the senior center
Another nuisance is the water damage at the Louise Otto-Peters senior center in Meißen, where there is a need for staff. The center's sponsor, the Internationale Bund Mitte, has formulated suggestions for improvements to politicians in order to remedy this situation.
Finally, a new residential area on Höroldtstrasse in the Meißner Triebischtal is also in the starting blocks. 50 apartments are soon to be built on a site that is currently used as a garbage dump - a step that is important for both local supply and urban development.
No matter whether in Moritzburg or Meißen, there is still a lot of movement in the region. The developments at the state stud farm and the associated progress are just the tip of the iceberg.”
