New age for the Cistercians: Homepage of the Congregation started!
Panschwitz-Kuckau, Sachsen, Deutschland - On June 27, 2022, a new chapter was opened in the history of the Cistercians: the foundation of the Cistercian Congregation by the Saint Gertrud of the Great. As the diocese of Dresden-meißen reports the new congregation four traditional monasteries: St. Marienthal, St. Marienstern, Langwaden monastery and St. Marien zu Helfta. An uplifting step that combines the centuries -old history of these institutions. In March 2025, the Seligenthal Abbey joined the fifth member and thus enriched the community.

A look at the St. Mariensters Abbey
The St. Marienstern monastery, located in Panschwitz-Kuckau in the diocese of Dresden-Meißen, can look back on an impressive story that extends until 1248. Founded by Bernhard II of Vesta and his family, this monastery is a living testimony of faith and tradition.
