On Sunday, June 22, 2025, the Augustusburg wire cable car shines in new splendor: A colorful festival is organized for the 114th anniversary, which inspires both the little ones and the big ones. From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., visitors can look forward to an entertaining program, which includes live music with Michael & Alexander, playful children's animations with a play mobile and XXL games. A special highlight is the photo box in which souvenir photos can be taken. The TAG24 also reports from an information mobile of the VMS, where interesting facts about the history of the wire cable is mediated.

One of the main points of the festival is the star hike, which is offered in six different routes between 8 and 16 kilometers. The hike is organized by regional hiking clubs and promises not only movement in nature, but also a certificate as well as a free mountain and descent for the participants. At 1:30 p.m. the ceremonial pennant handover takes place to the participating clubs, which underlines the community spirit of the event.

For the little discoverers there is an exciting treasure hunt that starts at the valley station and leads over about 3 kilometers to the mountain station. This child -friendly adventure ensures bright eyes and makes you want more. In addition, guided tours are offered in the machine room of the wire cable car, in which up to 20 people can take part. These take place at 11:15, 12:15, 2:15 p.m. and after the pennant handover at 1:40 p.m.

The journey to the celebration is recommended with the RB 80 of the Erzgebirgsbahn from Chemnitz and Annaberg-Buchholz towards the valley station in Erdmannsdorf, where additional trips are also offered every hour. An uncomplicated journey is guaranteed for the visitors.
