Drug-fueled driving: 16-year-old flees from the police!
On Sunday afternoon, a spectacular chase took place in Brand-Erbisdorf, a district in central Saxony, which kept not only the police but also the residents in suspense. The protagonist of this fast-paced hunt? A 16-year-old moped driver who plunged into a dangerous adventure due to his drug use and inadequate vehicle equipment.
At around 4:15 p.m. the police wanted to check the young person on Obere Dorfstrasse. But instead of stopping, the teenager gave full throttle. Not only was he without a license plate, he was also without the required lights on his scooter. The pursuit only lasted about a kilometer before the young driver collided with a patrol car on the valley road and fell. Despite the dramatic incident, the 16-year-old remained uninjured.
Legal consequences and drug use
The check after the accident revealed alarming details: the teenager did not have a driver's license and his moped was not insured. But that wasn't all. A preliminary drug test revealed a positive result for cannabis, which led to a blood test being ordered. This has far-reaching consequences because the cultivation, possession and consumption of drugs are punishable by law in Germany. Possession of even a small amount can lead to an entry in the Federal Central Register and can also inform the driving license office, which could also result in additional problems for the young person. More serious violations can even result in a prison sentence of up to 15 years, as can be read on KMDD.de.
The moped driver is now facing several charges: from driving without a license to endangering road traffic to violating the compulsory insurance law and driving under the influence of drugs. The estimated property damage is around 1000 euros, which doesn't exactly make the matter any cheaper for the young person.
Social reflection
Incidents of this kind cast a shadow on our society. How can it be that young people are caught without a driver's license and in a state of intoxication? It is time to take a closer look at the causes of these problems and take preventative measures.
The legal consequences are clear, but at this point the question naturally arises: What will become of the young person? The authorities have a duty to prosecute – and it remains to be seen how they will respond in this case. The police have already taken action and the case will certainly make waves, both in the public and in the legal institutions.
