FDP summer festival: Waldheim liberals help local seniors!
On August 26, 2025, a special summer festival of the local branch of the FDP took place in Waldheim. As usual, the meeting point was the pretty place at the Zschopau weir, where this popular event has been celebrated for 15 years. The members of the FDP and numerous citizens from Waldheim accepted the invitation to spend a sociable day.
This year in particular, a new aspect of the festival was brought to life: a fundraising campaign was called for for the first time. Drinks and grilled food were offered free of charge, and the donations collected will benefit the elderly citizens in the “An der Schillerhöhe” and “Am Eichberg” care facilities. FDP parliamentary group leader Andre Langner noted that the exchange in a relaxed atmosphere was of great importance and that discussions with the residents of the facilities should be encouraged. The initiative to support senior citizens' residences underlines the FDP's social commitment in the region, which is already evident in other projects, such as the tree planting campaign along Kirschallee that took place 30 years ago. Election campaign impulses and future topics
In a different context, another FDP summer festival took place, this time in Weilburg, where the state chairman Dr. Stefan Ruppert appeared as guest of honor. The Free Democrats' election campaign for the 2025 federal election opened in a full boathouse. Ruppert emphasized the FDP's distinctiveness in terms of freedom and a social market economy and highlighted education as a central theme. With the words “Those who know little must believe a lot,” he emphasized how crucial education is for the future. The call for an immigration law to meet the need for qualified specialists was also very popular. In addition to education policy, the FDP presented many of its central concerns, such as strengthening internal security, promoting digitalization and economic policy issues. The different approaches to managing migration were also discussed and received particular attention among politicians.
Where is the FDP headed?
The basis of the Free Democratic Party is a broad spectrum of political principles that have formed the foundation of its politics since its founding in 1948. Thanks to its decades-long presence in the Bundestag and its membership of over 68,000, the FDP plays an important role in German politics. It focuses on freedom, self-determination and social responsibility. Their latest election programs call for, among other things, tax relief, a reduction in bureaucracy and a reform of the education system. bpb describes that ...
With a strong focus on progress through education and individual self-determination, the FDP wants to constantly develop and meet the challenges of the future. Whether in Waldheim or Weilburg, the focus is on discussions and exchanges with the population in order to clearly communicate one's own goals and look into the future together.
