Fire Department Day in Hartha: Aldi supports fire department association with new projects!
On November 3rd, 2025 a special event took place in Hartha. The Hartha fire brigade association and Aldi invited citizens to the fire brigade day, which took place in front of the Aldi market. Firefighters presented their technology for fighting fires and rescuing people, which visibly impressed the visitors. The community fire chief René Greif said he was very pleased with the response, even though the club was unfortunately unable to attract any new members. Nevertheless, the event was an important step in raising awareness of the work of the fire department.
Aldi also contributed to the success of the day. The market provided free food, which was sold by the fire club to supplement the club's coffers. This initiative shows how important cooperation between local companies and associations is. The income is necessary because the fire department association is planning a financially complex project: the installation of a second level in the warehouse of the equipment house.
Warehouse expansion project
For this ambitious project, at least ten containers are needed, which will fit in the fire station. These containers are not only intended to accommodate a new fire engine, a logistics equipment truck, but also to store hoses, emergency generators, submersible pumps and other equipment. The warehouse expansion project was already considered in 2018, but it has not yet been funded.
The estimated costs for the expansion are around 40,000 euros. However, current offers are cheaper, which gives the fire department hope. Support from the city is being sought and options are already in place. The planned second level will consist of lightweight steel grating, although adjustments to the stairs and electrical systems will also be required.
Fundraising and community involvement
A call for donations was launched in September, which mobilized initial reactions from supporters of the fire department. The fire brigade association has agreed to provide a high four-figure sum to advance the project. If you would like to help, you are welcome to transfer money to the association's account with the note “Zwischenboden” for the warehouse expansion.
Firefighters' Day once again showed how important the local community is and that things are much easier together. Such events not only increase awareness of fire service work, but also cohesion in the community.
