Leisnig celebrates new fire engines and honors Bernd Starke!

A significant step in fire service history was recently taken in Leisnig. On Friday evening, the ceremonial inauguration of two new vehicles took place in the Leisnig fire department's fire department building. Particularly noteworthy is the new GW-L 2 equipment truck, which was christened “Bernd” in honor of the long-time fire chief Bernd Starke. This honor is not only a tribute to Starke, but also a sign of appreciation for his years of service to the fire department.

Mayor Carsten Graf (independent) emphasized in his speech that such an event had not taken place in Leisnig for a long time. It was an unforgettable evening, accompanied by an impressive strobe light arrangement, a countdown and fog effects. In addition to the Leisnig comrades, numerous local fire brigades and the Johanniter Leisnig were also present, which underlined the importance of the event.

Honor and collaboration

Another highlight was the honoring of Bernd Starke by Mayor Graf and the new fire chief René Gentzsch for his tireless efforts in procuring the new equipment truck. The Leisniger Weir had been demanding the replacement of the old rescue vehicle from 1986 for several years, and we are pleased to report that this wish has now been fulfilled.

The inauguration is clear evidence that community work and commitment are very important in Leisnig. The citizens and the fire department comrades can be proud of this achievement. It shows that stubborn demands eventually pay off and citizen safety is improved.

The event was a complete success and left a lasting impression on everyone involved. The Leisnig fire department is therefore ideally positioned to be able to respond effectively and quickly to operations in the future - thanks to the new vehicles, which represent a significant advance in equipment.
