New board of AG Döbeln: Together for the future of the industry!

On November 2nd, 2025, the plumbers in Döbeln and their new working group (AG) Heating, Plumbing, Air Conditioning will be in great shape. The old board not only proved its worth, but also laid the foundation for a future-oriented community under the aegis of the professional association. Chief Master Burkhard Richter emphasizes that the AG has taken its own path after the regional reform in order to avoid longer journeys. This strengthens cooperation and promotes the exchange of experiences among members.

The working group regularly organizes training courses in which participants acquire certificates that are important for their professional practice. Another important aspect is the political representation of heating, plumbing and air conditioning technicians, which is ensured by the board and the professional association.

Energy for the community

Joint trips also promote the cohesion of the group, which strengthens the sense of community. The members help each other with larger contracts, for example through bidding groups, which turns out to be a smart move. The AG's guest members include companies such as Veolia, Stadtwerke Döbeln and several wholesalers, which underlines the diversity and strength of the community.

Maik Hoffmann, the new chairman of the AG, has big plans. Together with his team, which also includes Franz Litzke, Marko Felgner and Sven Kempe, the aim is to further expand the community. The goal is clear: to attract new members and companies, especially since many experienced masters will soon be retiring. However, Marko Felgner has expressed concerns that the rapid development of laws and regulations could place unnecessary strain on the industry.

The future in crafts

Another problem remains the offspring. Franz Litzke reports that it is increasingly difficult to get young people interested in skilled trades because many parents prefer other career paths. In the next few years, around 70 percent of skilled workers will retire, while the number of young people coming in will remain low. Training to become a skilled worker takes three and a half years, but that's not all - practical experience also plays a crucial role.

However, one positive thing can be said: a trend reversal is emerging as more and more young people are showing interest in skilled trades. The diverse knowledge required to work as a heating, plumbing and air conditioning technician makes the profession attractive. Electrical, sound and fire protection are just some of the challenges that need to be overcome.

The community, Maik Hoffmann emphasizes, is essential for the exchange of experiences among specialists. Through collaboration and support, we can overcome the challenges of the industry together and ensure a strong future.
