Raging passion: IRRC race in Horice thrills the fans!
The legendary Czech Tourist Trophy races, which have long since achieved cult status for motorsport enthusiasts, took place in Horice, in the picturesque northern Czech foothills of the Giant Mountains. On August 11, 2025, this event was part of the International Road Racing Championship (IRRC) and represented the fourth of a total of six rounds of the season. As Blick.de reports, the event attracted numerous connoisseurs who watched the action-packed duels with eager eyes.
The achievements of the German drivers deserve particular mention. Nico Müller from Hohenstein-Ernstthal, who started in the IRRC Superbike class, was able to achieve tenth place in both races and thus stabilize his fifth place in the overall standings. René Grundei from Taura, who showed a mixed performance, ended up in 16th and 13th place in Horice and thus improved to 16th place at the top of the table.
Race highlights and records
The second qualifying session of the IRRC Horice Superbike was marred by an incident involving Karel Pesek, who caused a stir on the start-finish straight. Nevertheless, the races also had their shining moments. Lukas Maurer, crowned IRRC SBK Champion in 2023, was first to set the qualifying/race lap record with an impressive time of 2:11.688 minutes, before Erno Kostamo overtook him in a thrilling finish with 2:11.403 minutes. This is how RoadRacingNews describes it.

A look at the upcoming races
However, the IRRC season is far from over. The last two races are on August 23rd and 24th on the Schleizer triangle and on September 20th and 21st on the Frohburger triangle. This certainly promises new exciting developments and duels between the drivers.
Gerald and Moritz Nestler from Mittweida also took part in the event, and while Gerald was unable to compete in the 350cc race due to a crash, Moritz led early in the 250cc race, but had to withdraw from the race due to a broken chain. At least he was able to win the 350 cc race and thus celebrate a small victory.
It is noteworthy that despite his retirement following a serious crash, Didier Grams, a five-time IRRC Superbike champion, attended the event and followed the proceedings with great interest. The Horices tracks are not just about speed, but also about the passion for motorsport, which is clearly noticeable here on every lap.
The fascination for motorsports is unbroken. It dates back to the late 19th century and has evolved significantly over the years. From the first races without regulated tracks to state-of-the-art racing days where safety and technology are the focus, motorsport remains an exciting field. There are always questions about more environmentally friendly alternatives, which promises an exciting change in the industry, as can be read in MotorsportArchive.
