The Rochlitz mountain triathlon entered its 35th round on September 8, 2025 and once again attracted numerous sports enthusiasts this year. Despite the light wind and the summer temperatures of 24 degrees, the mood among the 180 athletes who took part was great. Water temperatures of a pleasant 21 degrees also ensured ideal conditions for the swimming part. The number of participants reflected the constantly growing interest in this diverse sporting event." Free press reports that a number of the athletes have even taken part in the Ironman in Hawaii.
The podium placement was particularly exciting: Torsten Hahn's former students, Enrico Muth and Janosch Zopf, met on the winner's podium and enjoyed delicious bratwursts after the successful sprint distance. What a moment: the students outdid their former teacher and celebrated their triumph while cheering each other on. A small incident on the sidelines of the race brought additional conversation - one of the winners took a wrong turn during the race!

On the Olympic distance, Sebastian Küffner from Triathlon Gera came out on top, while Jana Richter from Tri Team IfL Hof was ahead in the women's race. In the sprint distance, Lukas Seifert (Triathlon Team Lausitz) and Lisa Salzmann (SC Riesa Triathlon) shone with outstanding performances. The rankings are as follows:

A trend with a future
Triathlon has grown significantly in Germany in recent years. The sport is becoming increasingly popular and is supported by the German Triathlon Union (DTU), which was founded in 1985. With around 600 events annually and over 1,500 competitions, it is clear that triathlon is booming. Events like the ITU World Triathlon Series in Hamburg attract tens of thousands of participants and spectators. So why not pedal yourself and jump into the deep end?
