Sachsenkreuz Plus supports 17 projects with 165,000 euros for the region!

A lot is happening in the Döbeln region! With a funding volume of 165,000 euros, the Sachsenkreuz plus initiative supports 17 projects that are intended to promote sustainable living in rural areas. These funds come from the 2025 regional budget and have been fully utilized, as the Saxon reported.

The funding focuses on improving the quality of life in communities and covers diverse areas such as sustainability, education and civic engagement. Municipalities and local councils had until mid-March to submit their ideas for funding. And the result is impressive, as the selected projects range from innovative solar solutions to new leisure opportunities.

Diverse projects in the region

Here are some of the funded projects in detail:

Surveys show that citizens in the communities concerned are very interested in these projects. “We are proud that our ideas have been heard,” commented a local politician. All funded initiatives must be completed and billed by October 31, 2025.

A long breath for rural development

The funding does not come by chance. Such programs such as the LEADER program, which is supported by the European Union and the Saxon State Ministry for Regional Development, are committed to the further development of rural areas. That's what it says on the website Rural area of Saxony: “The goal is the sustainable development of rural areas, taking social, economic and ecological aspects into account.”

A total of 240.9 million euros is available for the current funding period from 2023 to 2027, with 36% of the funds going to the development of smaller towns and villages. The Saxon State Ministry for Regional Development emphasizes that such projects should make a significant contribution to strengthening the quality of life in rural areas.

Overall, the outlook for the region is positive. The Sachsenkreuz local action group is already planning further calls for funding to enable even more ideas and projects. “We want to move the region forward together,” emphasizes a spokesman for the initiative. The citizens probably have a lot to expect!
