Closure in Langenstriegis: New work on the bridge is causing trouble!
Things are once again getting tight for the residents in Langenstriegis. The newly inaugurated bridge on the district road K 8206, which was only opened to traffic ahead of schedule last year, is once again affected by construction work. These measures lead to a new closure in the area around the bridge, which not only causes inconvenience but also questions for citizens. However, there is also positive news: Bus lines 608 and 669 can now run to the turning point again, and students no longer have to take the long route to the Wilhelmshöhe junction Free press reported.
The construction work is important for local citizens because the restrictions affect everyday life. Residents in particular are concerned about the repeated construction activities. But despite the challenges these circumstances pose, many are hoping for a quick solution to the problems. Traffic will definitely require a little more patience.
Progress on other construction sites
In the Ueckermünder area, however, it looks as if the residents will soon be able to breathe a sigh of relief. After a four-month delay, construction work on the VG 75 district road is nearing completion. The basic renovation of Ueckermünder Straße in Torgelow should have been completed by the end of 2022, but was not completed due to unforeseen weather conditions. Residents should be able to reach their properties by car again from Monday, as the asphalt base layer has now been applied to the road. The full lifting of the lockdown is expected in around three weeks, which should please many as Northern Courier reported.
A joint project between the district, wastewater company, municipal utilities and city cost a total of around 500,000 euros for the 370 meter long expansion. However, residents still have to be patient as sidewalks still need to be paved on the eastern side of the street. Currently only half of the stones have been placed and some residents are still waiting for the work to be completed.
The delays in both projects are closely related to weather conditions, which have often been unstable in recent months. Concrete and asphalt paving work is simply not possible in frost and rain. The affected residents have recently had to contend not only with construction sites, but also with weather storms.
Overall, however, it can be seen that developments in both Langenstriegis and Ueckermünde are moving in the right direction: the infrastructure is being improved, even if some speed bumps and diversions have to be overcome. While the people in Langenstriegis are hoping for an early solution, the people of Ueckermünde are optimistic that their road will be completed soon. In any case, the hope for a smoother traffic pattern and a better quality of life in the run-up to the construction projects remains.
