Dispute over asylum home in Hartha: First agreement after heated dialogue!

There's a lot going on in Hartha. The conflict over the planned asylum center on Dresdener Strasse has been causing heated debates among city councilors and the population since September. Today a meeting took place in the district office, where District Administrator Sven Krüger and eight of a total of 16 city council representatives, including Mayor Ronald Kunze, met. The aim was to find a common basis for the planned central accommodation for refugees. The city hoped to enter into dialogue with the Central Saxony district in order to reconcile the interests of the citizens and the district's obligations.

“The conversation was open, objective and solution-oriented,” says Sven Krüger, describing the atmosphere of the meeting. The result was a joint press release from the Central Saxony district, the city of Hartha and the city council factions. The first consultation is considered a prelude to further discussions, although the exact way in which the dialogue will influence the project remains unclear.

Tensions between the party and the population

The situation is tense because the Hartha city councilors are under pressure. They strictly reject centralized accommodation and rely on decentralized solutions to better integrate refugees into society. Mayor Ronald Kunze is also accused of having provided too little information about the purchase of the property. The district had already purchased the property from private hands, which doesn't make the situation any easier.

It remains to be seen how this discussion will develop further. The voices of the population are getting louder and the feeling of insecurity hovers over the city. It is obvious that in Hartha a good hand is needed to master this challenge and achieve harmonious coexistence.
