Trampolines for children in Ukraine: Hainichen lends a hand despite the war!

In the midst of holiday preparations in Saxony, people in Ukraine and other crisis areas such as the Gaza Strip, Israel and Iran are worried about the coming weeks. With a look at the reality in Ukraine, where an unusual request was recently received despite the war, the aid organizations in Hainichen are preparing for their next transport. Project manager Thomas Kretschmann reported on a request to get trampolines for children and young people so that they could experience a little distraction and joy during the holidays. This initiative is part of a large aid transport that will be loaded shortly. The 33rd transport since the beginning of the war sets off for Ukraine with around 14 tons of relief supplies Saxon reported.

The range of donations in kind is diverse: from hospital beds to wheelchairs to clothing – the helpers have collected a lot. However, there is still a need. In particular, hygiene products, diapers, sleeping bags, tents, air mattresses and other relief supplies are urgently needed. Despite declining support after more than three years of conflict, the helpers are optimistic, thanks to unexpected help from parishes, municipalities and committed private individuals. "We have a good hand at organizing. The solidarity is evident in every donation," says Kretschmann.

Focus on medical needs

In order to alleviate the suffering in Ukraine, the focus is also on medical aid deliveries. The Maltese's 150th aid transport began on May 4th, sending 44 pallets of medicine and medical supplies to Lviv in Ukraine. The medical material, donated by the healthcare group Fresenius, comes at exactly the right time because the healthcare facilities in eastern Ukraine are overloaded. Pavlo Titko, head of Maltese Ukraine, emphasizes that there is a high need for medicines for chronically ill patients in hospitals. The Action Germany Helps emphasizes the urgency of medicines, camp beds for refugees and food that are urgently needed.

The transport of relief goods is made easier through special regulations. Humanitarian aid transports are exempt from the regulations on driving and rest times, which makes carrying out operations easier overall. Transport organizations can rely on the relevant regulations to ensure that urgently needed relief supplies arrive on time. Information on this, including wearing requirements for transport, can be found at Federal Office for Logistics and Mobility.

Invitation for support

The donation warehouse at the Naturbrennstoffe Kretschmann company in Hainichen is open on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. to accept donations. Supporters are cordially invited to drop off their relief supplies there. Monetary donations can also be dropped off directly at the warehouse or transferred to the Communitas association's donation account. Further information is available on the association's website or by telephone.

By acting together, we can help ensure that the people of Ukraine experience a spark of hope and support - from the heart of Saxony to those in need in Ukraine.
