A very special hiking adventure is just around the corner: the 5th edition of the “Freiberger Acht” will take place on September 13, 2025 - a challenge for everyone who loves hiking in an impressive setting. The event takes participants over a distance of 50 kilometers through the picturesque Erzgebirge/Krušnohoří mining region, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. As the Free press reported, over a third of the 300 available starting places have already been taken. The event attracts not only passionate hikers, but also fans of the history and culture of this unique region.
The starting point of the hike is at the Häuersteig specialist market center in Freiberg. From there you take the federal road towards Brand-Erbisdorf. The striking “Three Crosses” complex is visible on the left. If you prefer an alternative access, you can use the cycle path behind the “Letzter 3er” restaurant to immerse yourself in the hike. A special attraction on the route is the former Grace of God Treasure Trove, which has a long history dating back to the 17th century.
The route and its highlights
The hike follows the beautiful Erzgebirge – Vogtland hiking trail, which leads through fascinating, historical landscapes. On the route, hikers encounter numerous former mines and mine dumps that have shaped the region for centuries.
