There is good news for residents and pedestrians in Bad Düben: the North Saxony District Office has approved the city's application to reduce the speed in the old town. From now on there is a maximum speed of just 30 km/h. This rule affects a 300 meter long section of the B183, which extends from the Noack flower shop to the Ritterstrasse intersection. The Paradeplatz remains exempt from this speed reduction, which is a comforting fact for many.
The decision is the result of lengthy efforts by the city. Several attempts to implement this measure in the past had been unsuccessful. But in April 2023, a new application was submitted and has now finally been approved. The city justified the urgency of this measure with the increasing traffic and the associated higher speeds. The speed reduction is an important safety benefit, especially for the numerous school children and other road users who travel in this area every day.
The background and the need for action
Health-impaired spa guests and seniors are particularly affected, for whom crossing the street is often a major challenge.
