The provider from Northern Saxony has been active in the Göltzschtal since the beginning of the year and addresses a strongly represented age group. However, the opening had to be postponed to this appointment due to delivery difficulties in the ventilation system - protection against fire hazards in the new studio, and the necessary technology only arrived this month, as the Freie Presse reports.

But what makes the fitness market in Germany so exciting? According to a study by Deloitte, this market reached a record level in 2024. Sales rose 7.0 percent to an impressive 5.82 billion euros, which is almost six percent above the level of 2019. The number of members has also increased and reached a new maximum of 11.71 million.

A lot of movement in the fitness sector

The fitness market has changed a lot over the years. While only 370,000 members trained in German fitness studios in 1980, this number has now expanded to almost 14 percent of the population. In 1995 there were already over five million members, and in 2016 the ten million mark was exceeded. This development shows that fitness has now become a popular mainstream sport from a marginal phenomenon. Today, people of different ages - from 18 to 80 years - train and health is clearly the focus of the offers.

The leading chains in the fitness market, such as the RSG Group, Fitx and Clever Fit, were able to significantly expand their membership. Nine out of ten large fitness providers recently recorded a membership growth, which is partly due to Mergers & Acquisitions. So a good knack for the fitness market seems to be paid out.
