Auerbachs Nicolaipassage: Fit-Inn opens despite delivery problems!

Something is happening in Auerbach city center. From next Saturday, June 28th, the new fitness center “Fit-Inn” will open in the Nicolaipassage. This opening is also a solution to a 1000 square meter vacancy problem in the region, which will now be filled with an attractive offer for fitness enthusiasts. The provider from Northern Saxony has been actively trying to attract new members in the Göltzschtal since the beginning of the year and is specifically targeting a well-represented age group. However, the opening had to be postponed to this date due to delivery problems with the ventilation system - protection against fire hazards is the highest priority in the new studio, and the necessary technology only arrived this month, as the Freie Presse reports.

But what makes the fitness market in Germany so exciting? According to a study by Deloitte, this market will have reached record levels in 2024. Sales rose by 7.0 percent to an impressive 5.82 billion euros, which is almost six percent above the 2019 level. The number of members has also increased and reached a new high of 11.71 million.

Lots of exercise in the fitness sector

The fitness market has changed significantly over the years. While in 1980 only 370,000 members trained in German fitness studios, this number has now expanded to almost 14 percent of the population. In 1995 there were already over five million members, and in 2016 they exceeded the ten million mark. This development shows that fitness has now advanced from a fringe phenomenon to a popular mainstream sport. Today, people of all ages train – from 18 to 80 – and health is clearly the focus of the offerings.

The leading chains in the fitness market, such as the RSG Group, FitX and clever fit, have been able to significantly expand their membership base. Nine out of ten large fitness providers have recently recorded an increase in membership, which is partly due to mergers and acquisitions. A good hand for the fitness market seems to be paying off.

A fitness offer for everyone

The new “Fit-Inn” in Auerbach closes an important gap in the market. By specifically targeting a broad age group and the opportunity to further increase the number of members, the location has the potential to quickly establish itself in the region. The trend towards a healthier lifestyle and the demand for fitness offers show that the time is ripe. Sources such as Deloitte highlight the increase in memberships and the stability of fitness facilities - a clear indication that fitness is on the rise.

Overall, the new location is a good example of the positive development of the entire industry. The future of the fitness market seems bright, and Auerbach is no exception.
