Bitter news for Laußig: Kampf LSF will close at the end of 2025!

The situation surrounding Kampf GmbH and its locations is proving to be multi-faceted and challenging. Not only has it been decided to close Kampf LSF GmbH & Co. KG in Laußig at the end of 2025, the headquarters in Wiehl is also investing heavily in its future. Managing Director Markus Vollmer made the decision to close after a comprehensive analysis of the economic conditions, which are characterized by a persistently weak economy and a slump in the battery sector. This reports lvz.de.

There are currently 62 employees at the Laußig location who produce special machines for various industries. Another point of departure was the fact that a year ago a hall expansion was planned, which now appears in a completely different light. Company management considered alternative options such as restructuring and reallocation, but were unable to find a viable solution. What is certain is that the company's other locations are not affected by the closure.

Social responsibility in focus

In order to mitigate the consequences for employees, Kampf GmbH plans to develop socially acceptable solutions. A balance of interests and a social plan are drawn up in close coordination with the works council and the responsible authorities. Mayor Lothar Schneider hopes that a new investor can be found for the plant by the end of the year. He also made it clear that the closure was not due to bankruptcy, but rather to the current economic situation.

Investments in the future in Wiehl

While the Laußig location is affected by this precarious situation, the headquarters in Wiehl is investing heavily in the future. The construction of a new customer experience center and a logistics center is in full swing. The laying of the foundation stone for the new buildings began in October 2024. This investment of 11 million euros is intended not only to increase storage capacity, but also to optimize the internal flow of goods, such as the website m2n-converting.com reported.

The Customer Experience Center, which operates under the name “THE LINQ – Home of Slitting and Winding by Kampf”, will have an area of 3,000 m² and include a demo area with an extensive machine park of 1,500 m². Here, customers should be able to develop innovative products in direct collaboration with the company. Commissioning of the technical center is planned for the end of 2025 and the dialogue center for the beginning of 2026. The new rooms also offer a modern environment for conferences and training and a canteen for employees and guests.

In a time that presents both challenges and opportunities, Kampf GmbH shows how important it is to take existing locations into account as well as to break new ground. The hope for an investor in Laußig remains, while at the same time the course for a successful future is being set in Wiehl.
