The weekend in Northern Saxony promises a colorful program for young and old. In the coming days, residents and visitors can look forward to various events that will provide entertainment and socializing.

On Friday afternoon, the small and large lantern bearers in the town of Staritz are cordially invited to enjoy a lantern parade at the playground. There is also delicious stick cake here - a truly festive start to the weekend! Meanwhile in Börln the cards are turning at the skating evening in the clubhouse at the sports field, where a social gathering awaits the participants at 7 p.m. For lovers of live music, Riesa has organized a very special event with the Stahlzeit anniversary tour in the WT Arena. Saturday in Northern Saxony has a wealth of highlights in store. In Delitzsch from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.: Lights and Lantern Festival in the Tiergarten. Theater performances begin at 3 p.m., followed by a DJ from 4 p.m. and an atmospheric torchlight procession from 6 p.m. Another cultural treat is the author reading “On Everyday Happiness” with Titus Müller at 7 p.m. in the community center, also in Delitzsch.

For everyone looking for fun and sociability, a lantern parade will be held in Pohritzsch, while Zwochau will celebrate its first festival event by the Zwochau Carnival Association at 7.30 p.m. Admission here begins at 6:30 p.m. Later in the evening, the Eichenast restaurant in Löbnitz invites you to an oldies disco from 10 p.m. - a highlight for all nostalgics!

The big festival of lights and its spectacular end

A very special event that shouldn't go unmentioned is the Festival of Lights, which ends on Sunday evening with a magnificent fireworks display by Bombay Schmidt. This festival around the market square enchanted numerous participants over four days. A highlight was undoubtedly the lantern parade, which led from the main train station across the boulevard to the market square and sent a clear message: it's festive here! With exciting laser shows and an entertaining soap bubble show, the festival of lights also provided an unforgettable visual experience.

On Sunday there will also be a film lecture “Düben – End of the War 80 Years Ago” in the Bad Düben Landscape Museum, which starts at 2 p.m. The St. Martin's Festival in Schenkenberg offers childlike and cultural fun with the St. Michaelis brass band in the church at 5 p.m. For history enthusiasts, the people of Torgau will lead you into the world of “Torgauer Stollen – history, myth and tasting” in the afternoon at 3 p.m.
