Explosion in Borna: Police are looking for witnesses after a spectacular incident
There are some sad and frightening reports from the region today. Police work is in full swing while several incidents raise public safety concerns.
Blasting at the Borna district court
Tonight, around 3:00 a.m., there was a series of explosions on Zwilling-Scholl-Straße in Borna: unknown perpetrators blew up a telecommunications switch box. The extent of the damage is currently unknown, but the impact of the detonation caused some damage in the immediate area. The criminal police have launched an investigation into the explosive explosion and are currently securing evidence. It remains to be hoped that the perpetrators will be caught soon in order to prevent further crimes. The L-IZ reports that the circumstances are still unclear.
Traffic accident with injuries
Another incident that attracted attention was a traffic accident in Doberschütz. At around 11:23 a.m., a 77-year-old driver of a VW T-Cross collided with a truck whose 63-year-old driver was also involved in the accident. The elderly driver suffered injuries while the truck's diesel tank was ruptured, which could result in a road closure until Monday. The material damage is estimated at around 100,000 euros. Dog bites and scams
One of the most terrible reports is an incident in Torgau in which two children aged 4 and 8 were injured by dog bites while visiting a restaurant. The dog owner's Dogo Argentino bit the children while they were in the immediate vicinity. Fortunately, the children received medical attention at local hospitals, which intervened in a timely manner. The dog owner is now facing investigations for negligent bodily harm. It is reported that the dog was not muzzled and was on a long leash. This clearly shows the need for action to avoid incidents like this in the future L-IZ notes again.
There was also an attempted fraud in Naunhof. An 80-year-old man was the victim of an Apple Pay card scam where he was promised big profits. The fraudsters demanded the purchase of cards and the transmission of the codes. Only when the fraudster made contact again did the injured party contact the police. The financial loss amounts to several hundred euros. The Leipzig Police Department warns urgently against such machinations.
