Osterwieck celebrates new fire station: A quantum leap for the city!

The city of Osterwieck shines with its latest project: a modern fire station including a helipad is now being expanded into a disaster control center. The new building, which is being built in the west of the city on the Großer Fallstein, will not only serve as a contact point for citizens in emergencies, but will also make a decisive contribution to prevention in the event of major damage, such as heavy rain events or arsenic theft. The MDR reports that the old location on Ernst-Thälmann-Straße, which was built in 1919 and is now no longer up to date, no longer met today's requirements. Particularly problematic was the space for the turntable ladder emergency vehicle, which could not fit there.

Mayor Dirk Heinemann (SPD) describes the new building as a “quantum leap for the city of Osterwieck”. With an investment volume of 5.6 million euros, of which 4.6 million euros are provided by the city and 1 million euros come from EU funding, the city shows a strong commitment to its civil protection and support for firefighters. In this context, Interior Minister Tamara Zieschang (CDU) emphasizes the strengthening of voluntary work and the need to create modern working conditions.

Innovative training rooms and recruiting young talent

The new fire station not only provides modern working conditions, but also promotes cohesion and motivation within the fire department. City fire chief Olaf Chrost reports that the fire department currently has no worries about the offspring. He is convinced that modern conditions will attract new comrades. The new training rooms will significantly improve youth work for young people and carers and increase the quality of training.

The first training courses in legal principles are planned for December and will take place in the new building. This is a further step towards making the fire brigade fit for the challenges of today and tomorrow and ensuring that the emergency services are well prepared.

Overall, with this new building, the city of Osterwieck is on a future-oriented course that benefits both citizens and volunteers. For further information about the fire department in Osterwieck, those interested can take a look at the city's official website: City of Osterwieck.
