Saxony-Anhalt launches agricultural atlas: A milestone for farmers!
A fresh wind is blowing through Saxony-Anhalt's agriculture! Today, Economics and Agriculture Minister Sven Schulze and State Secretary Gert Zender launched the Agricultural Atlas of Saxony-Anhalt. The ceremonial presentation took place as part of the digitalization day “Smart Farming: Artificial Intelligence in Agriculture” in Bernburg. An event that is all about the digitalization of agriculture.
What exactly is the Agricultural Atlas? This newly developed web application bundles relevant basic geodata from the areas of agriculture, environment and spatial planning and thus acts as a central source of information for farmers, agricultural advisors and authorities. The Agricultural Atlas is not only a stylish tool, but also a real helper in farmers' everyday lives.
Key features and outlook
A clever idea from the developers was to design the Agricultural Atlas as a platform on which users can quickly and easily access important information. Using the portal should make everyday work easier for many people. To all interested parties, the Agricultural Atlas is now available online at this link.
But that's not all! The introduction of the GeoBox viewer is planned for 2026, which will offer exciting functions such as time series data, knowledge tools and information from the agro-meteorological measurement network. This progress shows that the topic of digitalization is being taken seriously in Saxony-Anhalt.
Collaboration and support
The agricultural atlas was developed with the active support of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Digital Affairs, in collaboration with experts from the State Office for Agriculture and Horticulture (LLG) and the State Office for Surveying and Geoinformation (LVermGeo). The IT service provider Dataport also contributed to the success of the project. This clearly shows that a combination of public and private commitment can achieve a lot.
Saxony-Anhalt is making a strong statement in the agricultural landscape. Digital transformation is well underway and could represent good business for many – both farmers and the industry as a whole.
