Saxony's press photo competition 2024: Take part now and win!
The countdown is running! The “blickpunkt 2024” competition of the German Journalists Association of Saxony (DJV) starts today, June 23, 2025. Press photographers from Saxony have the chance to submit their best pictures of the year. Not only are we looking for impressive snapshots, but also meaningful picture stories, which will be awarded in four categories: “Press Photo of the Year”, “Local”, “Portrait” and “Sport”. There is also an audience award for the most popular photo. [lvz reports].
This tradition has been established since the competition started in 1998. The DJV Sachsen has taken over the sponsorship and promises innovative measures to increase the visibility of the works. A preliminary survey among photographers revealed a desire for more public presence, which will result in planned improvements such as a new website and an exhibition of competition work. djv-sachsen.de informs.
Exhibition of competition works
Last year's competition works will be presented in Dresden from August 9th to 24th. This exhibition not only shows the best photos on the wall, but also a digital presentation of a total of 110 works. Visitors have the opportunity to admire the images while voting on which one is their favorite. The audience prize will be awarded on the last day of the exhibition. Opening hours are Monday to Friday 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.; entry is free.
