Naturalizations in Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains are increasing, but the rejection rate is causing concern. What's behind it?

Naturalization boom in Saxony: Leipzig's numbers are exploding, Zwickau is alarming!
Naturalization in Saxony is currently the focus of an application from the AfD parliamentary group's migration policy spokesman, Jonas Dünzel. He noted that requests for naturalization have exploded in recent years. Particular attention is paid to Leipzig, where the number of naturalizations rose from 583 to a whopping 1,586 between 2022 and the first half of 2025 - a more than five-fold increase in just three years. This emerges from the figures presented by afd-fraktion-sachsen.de.
But the rapidly increasing trend raises questions. While naturalization applications in the city of Leipzig are almost never rejected - in the first half of 2025 the rejection rate was a magical 0.63 percent - the situation in the Zwickau district is completely different. The rejection rate there over the same period is a shocking 27.78 percent. Jonas Dünzel expresses concern about the naturalization practice and wonders whether all procedures are transparent and fair.
Language certificates under suspicion
Another interesting point is the lack of clarity about the authenticity of language certificates. The government of Saxony has estimated that the number of fake certificates in the Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains district could be between one and nine. However, Dünzel fears that the number of unreported cases of forged documents could be significantly higher. The questions about transparency and reliability in the naturalization process cast a shadow on the migration practice in the region.
It remains to be seen how the wave of naturalization will continue. This makes it all the more important to keep an eye on both the successes and the challenges in this area. After all, civil rights are not just a ray of hope on the horizon, but are also linked to many conditions that need to be checked.
A look beyond naturalization
A completely different issue, but no less important for homeowners, is removing cement plaster from brick walls. Cement plaster has established itself as a popular choice in recent years, also because it has a number of advantages - including high durability and weather-resistant properties. But over the years it can also develop cracks, which leads to moisture penetrating the bricks. Statistics show that around 30 percent of homes struggle with damp problems due to damaged plaster, which is not only annoying but also costly.
For anyone who wants to enjoy fresh plaster, there are various methods for removing it. Manual techniques such as chiselling with a hammer and chisel or using angle grinders are often used. Chemical solutions, such as vinegar or special plaster removers, offer an alternative, but require caution and appropriate protective measures. Safety glasses, gloves and respiratory protection should always be part of the basic equipment. Concrete Captain goes on to explain how important it is to work in small sections to avoid damaging the bricks and to keep track.
In both subject areas it becomes clear that both naturalization and renovating living spaces come with challenges and responsibilities. Whether dealing with bureaucratic obstacles or manual work – dealing with them correctly is the be-all and end-all.
