Driver without a license stopped in Freital-Niederhäslich!
A lot is happening on the roads in the Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains region. On October 2, 2025, a 25-year-old driver was stopped by the police in Freital-Niederhäslich because he could not produce a driver's license. During the check it turned out that he does not have a driving license at all. He was banned from continuing his journey and an investigation into driving without a license was initiated, as the Sächsische reports.
But this is not the only incident affecting drivers in the region. There are currently disruptions on the A4 motorway. An accident with injuries has been reported between Chemnitz and Dresden, resulting in a traffic jam in the left lane. The police have already taken measures to direct traffic past the scene of the accident. There are also numerous construction sites on the A4 that drivers can expect in the coming days and weeks.
Construction sites and disruptions in the region
There are several construction sites on the A4 in both directions, which are significantly affecting the traffic situation. The construction work between Weißenberg and the Löbauer Wasser Nord rest area is planning to narrow the roadway, which is expected to last from October 6th to 10th, 2025. Further trouble with construction sites is looming on the A17 towards Prague, where several tunnel work will take place between October 6th and 16th, 2025, which will result in traffic restrictions.
- A4 Chemnitz Richtung Dresden: Unfall mit Verletzten, Stau auf dem linken Fahrstreifen.
- A17 Dresden Richtung Prag: Nachtbaustellen in mehreren Tunneln, teilweise gesperrte Fahrbahnen.
- S197 Kreis Mittelsachsen: Vollsperrung zwischen Halsbrücke und Isaak.
Another critical point concerns the construction site on the B87, where the Zeppelin Bridge is closed in both directions until approximately December 11, 2026. Diversions have been put in place, but drivers should still be prepared for longer journey times.
