Feistenbergstrasse in Pirna: Full closure due to construction work from June 23rd!

In the coming days, the Pirna public utilities will be facing an extensive construction site that affects Feistenbergstrasse. From June 23rd to 27th, a gas house connection will be renewed there, which means that the area at number 18 will be completely closed during the day. Fortunately, Feistenbergstrasse remains accessible from both directions to the construction site, so that residents can still get to their properties despite the circumstances. This is particularly important because, at the same time, work is also taking place in the residential area on Pfauenweg to inspect and clean sewers. This is where the check for possible damage to the main sewers and rainwater drains is carried out, as well as the house connection pipes to the properties. Residents are asked not to park their vehicles on the street so as not to further hinder traffic. During sewer cleaning, there may also be slight noises and water leaks, which the municipal utilities ask for your understanding.

But this is not the only construction site that affects the citizens of Pirna. Repair work on a gas pipe on Breite Straße took place from June 10th to 17th. A partial closure was set up here, which narrowed the turning lanes towards Königsteiner Straße and Schandauer Straße. This work was carried out by the company Steglich Tief- undwegebau GmbH, while the elimination of a leak in the pipeline was carried out by the company SPIE GSA. In this context, the Pirna public utilities ask all road users and residents to understand the necessary restrictions.

Construction projects in the region

In addition to these short-term measures, the construction project for the fundamental expansion of S 168 Struppener Straße is in full swing. This project covers the section from the ALDI market to Herbert-Liebsch-Straße and began on July 15, 2024, with a planned duration until November 2025. The preparations for this massive construction site will be completed by the beginning of August 2024 and include, among other things, the construction of sewer and wastewater pipes as well as the renewal of drinking water and gas pipes. The road infrastructure will also be modernized, with new sidewalks, cycle lanes and barrier-free bus stops being created. For citizens, however, this also means that diversion routes such as Rudolf-Breitscheid-Straße and the northern Prof.-Joliot-Curie-Straße must be used during construction.

In total, the costs for this expansion amount to around 5.43 million euros, a large part of which is covered by funding from the city of Pirna. The city administration and the municipal utilities would like to thank the residents for their understanding and patience during the construction phases.

In times of constant conversion and renovation, it becomes clear once again that patience and flexibility are required. The municipal utility works to make the maintenance, repair and expansion work as smooth as possible and always keeps citizens informed.
