Freital celebrates: Technology Park Ost with new companies full of opportunities!
With the newly built Technology Park Ost (F3),Freital has created an important economic pillar. After two and a half years of intensive development work, the industrial area has finally been completed. Managing Director Alexander Karrei from Freitaler Technologie- und Gründerzentrum GmbH (TGF) has managed the project and can now be proud of the resulting progress that will benefit the regional companies.
The technology park consists of two construction fields, which offer a total of 14,000 square meters of marketable space. A small construction site on Birkigter Straße will offer space for three companies, while the larger area between Coschützer Straße and Bahntrasse has up to seven building plots (1200 to 2000 square meters each). The property prices are 85 to 90 euros per square meter, which is quite attractive for interested entrepreneurs.
The first settlements
It is already movement in the new industrial area: The Wehle Wehle from Kesselsdorf was the first company to settle in the F3. A second property has already been sold, and negotiations for a third area are already running. A gratifying sign for the local economy and a step in the right direction to further strengthen Freital as a company location.
It looks like, the creation of new jobs could not only progress through settlements, but also by promoting the Freitaler Technology and Founder Center. The center offers young companies an important platform to develop and grow. [Location of Saxony] (https://standortsachsen.de/de/aktuelles/detail/n260- Mehr-platz---sachsen-foerdert-erwährt-des-and-Gruenderzentrums-Freital) actively supports this initiatives and promotes economic development in the region.
challenges and solutions
Before the first companies were able to move into the new industrial area, the city of Freital had to overcome some hurdles. Unexpected environmental problems were discovered during the renovation work, including two large old oil tanks with a capacity of 20,000 liters and an illegal derivation system for waste oil and tar. These finds led to an increase in renovation costs from originally 4.5 million euros to around 5.7 million euros.
The additional funding from the State Directorate of Saxony were decisive in this critical phase. Thanks to this support, the city can master the challenges and successfully put the industrial area into operation. However, it remains to be seen whether further industrial areas will be planned in the future, since a planned “green industrial area” on Zöllmener Strasse failed due to resistance and the rejection of the city council.
Developments in the Ost Technology Park show that Freital sails into the future with a fresh wind. A location that is important for both new companies and for the existing economy is increasingly emerging. What remains is the question of how the local economy will develop in the coming years and what chances could arise.
