Freital is looking for the pop star again: the competition is restarting!
The anticipation in Freital is growing, because the popular singing competition “Freital sucht den Schlagerstar” is about to be relaunched! This year, after months of searching, Freital's pop star was found, and initiator Helge Schönlebe is pleased to announce plans for the continuation of the competition. How Sächsische.de reported, the first preparations are already underway and the new edition will take place under a fresh title.
From January 2026, hobby singers aged 14 and over can apply online. The performances of the talented singers are accompanied by live castings throughout Central Germany. The application deadline is set for March 15, 2026. The organizers promise an exciting time for all participants and are looking forward to numerous applications. A special website with the application form will be launched soon.
A competition with tradition
The premiere of the current competition was entirely successful, exceeding the organizers' expectations. Many interested people got involved and demonstrated their skills. A competition that is well received in the region and the hope that it will continue to inspire many spectators in the coming edition.
The talented singers are asked to take the stage not only in Freital, but across a wide area of Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, Thuringia and Brandenburg, making the competition a highlight of the region. It remains to be seen what new talent will emerge from this open call.
