This step, which is intended to promote the ecological health of rivers, is estimated to be worth around 26,700 euros annually. The company has already proven since 2022 that it has a good hand and is carrying out the task to the city's complete satisfaction - without any complaints.
But the mission is not just limited to water conservation. The service providers will also mow the adjacent areas and remove the grass cuttings. The citizens of Glashütte can look forward to these measures helping to improve the landscape and water quality. Under the new contract, which runs for two years and can be optionally extended for another year, the city will continue to be responsible for maintaining watercourses with a total length of around 120 kilometers. Interestingly, the work on water conservation is also indirectly supported by the Free State of Saxony. The city receives a total of 62,400 euros annually for the care of its waters.
