Hot tires and adrenaline: Upper Lusatian Triangle inspires 8,000 fans!

The engines are roaring and the spectators are cheering: This weekend the eagerly awaited Upper Lusatian Triangle is taking place, an event that not only excites motorsport fans. The Union MSC Oberlausitzer Dreiländereck organizes the race for motorcycles and cars, which extends over a picturesque circuit of 5.9 kilometers between the towns of Saalendorf, Jonsdorf and Waltersdorf in the Zittau Mountains. Around 8,000 visitors are expected to immerse themselves in the family atmosphere of the paddock and have the opportunity to ride in a “racing taxi”.

A special highlight of the event is the gathering of more than 250 participants who come from countries such as the Czech Republic, Austria and England. Among them are some former active racing drivers who demonstrate their skills in various types of vehicles from racing motorcycles to touring cars. One of the big attractions is a former Porsche 908 LeMans, which was once one of the legendary Steve McQueen's favorite vehicles.

A look behind the scenes

Anyone interested in the technical details can admire a wide variety of vehicles in the paddock. The background noise ranges from roaring engines to roaring machines, creating an unforgettable atmosphere. On both days the spectacle begins at 8:00 a.m. with two trips of 20 minutes each per class. A total of 12 classes are registered, ranging from pre-war vehicles to classic cars

The five-year track record makes the Upper Lusatian Triangle a significant event in the region's motorsport calendar. The events of the MSC Oberlausitzer Dreiländereck e.V., which was founded in 2013, aim to increase the awareness of the region and bring together technology and motorsport enthusiasts drivers and fans. The club's internal promotion of young talent is also given great importance. The club also has partnerships with clubs in the Czech Republic and Poland, a cross-border collaboration that further invigorates the region.

A sport with history

Motorsport has a turbulent history that dates back to the late 19th century. From the first races against trains and cyclists, motorsport has steadily developed. The development of faster and more reliable vehicles fueled competition between manufacturers and resulted in the circuit races that characterize our racing terrain today. Even though motorsport has often been criticized in the past, it is the focus on environmental sustainability that will continue to concern us in the future. The use of hybrid and electric vehicles is increasingly required to address the challenges of environmentally friendly solutions.
