Sandstone games: AI and rabbits conquer Schöna despite the summer heat!
An impressive play will be performed in Saxon Switzerland on Saturday morning, taking the audience on an exciting journey through time. The Sandsteinspiele landscape theater presents the play “Everywhere is Schöna”, which takes place in a sold-out village square in Schöna. More than 250 visitors have already registered to experience the gripping production. Since the project started in 2013, a total of 100 performances have been realized and interest in this piece remains unbroken.
But what can viewers expect? The action takes place in the year 2125 and unfolds in three strange scenes. The first scene shows a nuclear power plant, while the second family finds themselves in a garbage dump after a night of partying. This exciting twist, in which they discover that they have slept longer than expected and that society has changed dramatically, creates curious looks in the audience. Finally, in the third scene there is an amusing encounter with fighting hares at a horse farm, where the visitors are treated very harshly.
Artificial intelligence and its influences
A central theme of the play is the role of artificial intelligence, which forms a new government in the play and controls people through leisure activities. The response to this topic has so far been consistently positive, which has given viewers lasting food for thought. Claas cube, who is directing, had to step in at short notice for the director who was ill and has a lot to do because the acoustics outdoors also bring with them special challenges. The audience is asked to speak loudly and clearly so as not to lose the emotion and tension.
One participant, Oliver von Kopp, criticized the lack of a solution to the dramatic plot, but most of the feedback, such as that from Anita Szanto and her daughters, praised the good organization and the tempting food stalls. The break between scenes offers visitors a good opportunity to fortify themselves with snacks and drinks.
A successful collaboration
The sandstone games are not only characterized by an interesting plot. Around 35 ensemble and crew members as well as 10 additional helpers are on duty to put this cultural highlight together. Rehearsals for the piece began in April, and a call was made for people to get involved in March. It's impressive to see how many people put their heart and soul into this project.
At a time when digitalization and artificial intelligence are playing an increasingly important role in the theater, one wonders what tasks are left to people. Experts from the Zurich University of the Arts are currently discussing how computers can support or even threaten human creativity highlights a current discussion.
For all theater lovers and those who want to become one, “Everywhere is Schöna” is definitely a must. Whether it's 30 degrees in the shade or not, the Sandstone Games have the potential to warm the hearts of spectators and make them think.
