Tick alarm in Saxony: 68 new Borreliosis cases within a week!
In Saxony, a market for Borreliosis cases can be observed again that keeps the health authorities busy. In the past week, 68 new infections were reported, which indicates a tense tick year. Since the beginning of the year alone, 535 Borreliosis cases have been registered in the Free State, a significant increase compared to the previous year, where only 456 cases were recorded at the same time. If you take a closer look at the numbers, there is a large part of the new infections on the cities of Dresden and the Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Mountains. In the week from June 16 to 22, there were 10 cases in Dresden and 11 in the district. The city and the district of Leipzig, which are not affected by these high number of cases, are excluded. For comparison: In 2024, a total of 1,628 Borreliosis cases came together in Saxony, which was about 150 more than in the previous year.
