Fire drama in Plauen: two major fires in one day!

In Plauen, the fire brigade was in constant use on Wednesday to fight two major fires that caused excitement in the area. The first fire broke out at midday in the Syrauer Heide and spread to an impressive 5,000 square meters. More than 70 emergency services had to come in to control the flames MDR reported. The extinguishing work was challenging, but the fire brigade did not let themselves be disturbed.

But that wasn't all: While the fire department was busy extinguishing the fire, another emergency call came in. This involved a fire in a residential building in the north of Plauen. Heavy plumes of smoke were coming from the ground floor, but the fire department was quickly able to identify the source of the fire and extinguish the fire. Most of the residents had already gotten to safety, but one man had to be taken to hospital. Fortunately, the other residents were able to quickly return to their apartments after the ventilation had been completed.

Complicated extinguishing work on Hauffstrasse

Previously, on October 12, 2024, another fire department was on duty on Hauffstrasse. At around three in the morning, a fire broke out on the top floor of an apartment building. The extinguishing work turned out to be extremely complicated because the fire engines could not get into the backyard. In a serious operation, rescuers even had to break open the roof to fight the flames and ensure a barrier to neighboring houses to prevent the fire from spreading further. Loud View 19 residents of the affected house were evacuated uninjured, but a total of 47 people were brought to safety from the adjacent buildings.

The affected residents were temporarily cared for by the Plauen professional fire department, while two families had to be accommodated in a hotel. The material damage is estimated at at least 100,000 euros, but the cause of the fire remains unclear to this day. The criminal investigations are in full swing.
