Winter service in Saxony-Anhalt: 35,000 tons of salt for ice-free roads!

Winter is just around the corner and preparations are in full swing in Saxony-Anhalt. The MDR reports that the road maintenance departments in the region are well equipped. With around 35,000 tons of road salt and 3,500 tons of brine, the course was set for smooth winter operations. The aim is to keep federal and state roads as well as some district roads free of snow and ice.

Those responsible have access to a total of 279 clearing and gritting vehicles. Almost 750 emergency services can be mobilized if necessary and are ready to quickly make the roads passable again in winter weather. Minister Lydia Hüskens (FDP) emphasizes that the “dependence on winter hardiness” must be taken into account. However, during heavy snowfalls, it may not be possible to clear all roads at the same time.

Comprehensive services for municipalities and companies

Winter service is of central importance not only for road maintenance departments, but also for numerous companies and municipalities. The Winter service in Saxony-Anhalt attaches great importance to ensuring that people's everyday lives do not come to a standstill, even in adverse weather conditions. In addition to snow removal, the services also include spreading salt or grit to avoid accidents due to slippery conditions and to ensure safety.

A trained team uses modern equipment and is available around the clock. The winter services guarantee professional implementation – flexibly adapted to the individual needs of the customers. Especially when there are large amounts of snow, special techniques can be used to clear streets, parking lots and sidewalks quickly and effectively.

Preparation is everything

Regular monitoring of weather conditions enables early intervention. This not only relieves cities and municipalities of the obligation to clear snow, but also gives companies the opportunity to concentrate on their core business. This means that the winter will be a manageable challenge not only for the road maintenance departments, but also for the economy.

Finally, all drivers are advised to equip their vehicles for winter and adapt their driving style to the conditions. Because safety is our top priority at all times!
